![]() ![]() The second series (1985–89) ran on CBS and in syndication in the 1980s, while the third series ran on UPN (2002–03). The success of the series led to a feature film (1983), a TV film (1994), a radio series (2002–12), various literature, theme park attractions and various other spin-offs that spanned five decades, including three revival television series. The Twilight Zone followed in the tradition of earlier television shows such as Tales of Tomorrow (1951–53) and Science Fiction Theatre (1955–57) radio programs such as The Weird Circle (1943–45), Dimension X (1950–51) and X Minus One (1955–58) and the radio work of one of Serling's inspirations, Norman Corwin. The first series, shot entirely in black and white, ran on CBS for five seasons from 1959 to 1964. A popular and critical success, it introduced many Americans to common science fiction and fantasy tropes. ![]() The episodes are in various genres, including fantasy, science fiction, absurdism, dystopian fiction, suspense, horror, supernatural drama, black comedy, and psychological thriller, often concluding with a macabre or unexpected twist, and usually with a moral. The Twilight Zone is an American media franchise based on the anthology television series created by Rod Serling. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (1994–present) There were some hits and misses in this series, and to a degree, it did often reflect the mentality of the 1980s, rather than tell stories that had a "timeless" quality, which is another disadvantage it has to the original series, but it is most certainly worthy of bearing the name, and is worth seeking out, either on reruns or DVD.Twilight Zone: Rod Serling's Lost Classics (1994) The catch: someone they didn't know would die. They even did a "remake" of a few eps, like "Button Button," where an impoverished couple was offered the chance to receive a large cash amount if they simply pressed a button. ![]() This is reminiscent of many of the humorous episodes from the original series. The amusing "I Of Newton" tells of a professor who offhandedly says he would sell his soul to calculate an equation, but then has to try to back out of the deal when the devil shows up in his classroom to claim it. A remarkable story that is most certainly worthy of the "TZ" moniker. Kennedy, who goes to Dallas in 1963, intending to document, but then preventing the assassination of the President, which creates some surprising results. Examples: The astonishing "Profile In Silver" tells the story of a time traveling distant relation to John F. Unfortunately, the parallels to the original series meant this one was doomed to be considered an also ran, which is a shame, because there were some incredible episodes that I would rank among the best of any science fiction program from any era. And it had the advantage of better special effects, and color photography. Clarke and Stephen King, just to name three. However, this second attempt did have some positives going for it: First, it featured stories from a host of brilliant s/f writers, including such iconic names as Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. ![]() The 1985 version of "The Twilight Zone" begins with a major disadvantage: it trailed the original Rod Serling vintage 1960s version! That original series was, and continues to be, the Gold Standard for programs of this type and for better or worse it's unlikely that any show in its wake could achieve that level of greatness. ![]() ![]() ![]() Shortly, we were given this sad tray of fruit and water. They asked someone and said it would be delivered soon. I called the front desk and they had no idea what I was talking about. When we got to the room there was nothing there. The bottles were replenished daily.Īs part of the Hyatt Privé rate, a welcome amenity is included. A Nespresso machine and coffee were above the fridge.Īn ice bucket and bottles of water were next to the coffeemaker. There was no mini-bar (there is a CVS across the street) and the refrigerator was working fine. Here, you’ll find a small couch, TV, a few tables, and a cabinet with a refrigerator and coffee setup. The suite opens into a small living room. There are 354 rooms including 14 suites at the hotel. The hallways smell bad (like a faint mix of urine and trash) and are in need of refreshing. I like the art deco accents and enjoyed the pop art throughout. The lobby has plenty of seating, but it’s filled most of the day with people waiting for rooms. After a few minutes, she handed me my keys (since the mobile key option was not working) and I went to the suite. It seems management has trained the staff to say “no” to almost every request and to even try to deny benefits that are owed like the waived resort fees. I asked for a higher one and was told that they were booked. She assigned me the suite I booked on the eighth floor overlooking the street. I told her I saw every type of room and suite for sale and she said that was incorrect. I asked about an upgrade and she told me the hotel was completely booked. I asked for late checkout and she told me it was not an option. I knew I was receiving it as a Globalist and as part of my Hyatt Privé rate. The agent that checked me in, explained nothing. People were complaining to the other agent that it was after 4:00 PM and their rooms were not ready. I’m not sure why she was removing the sign, but I’m glad I caught it. As she was, I asked if that was the elite line and she said, “yes, you can come here if you are.” The rest of the guests in line groaned a little bit, but they had no status and this is a benefit that should be honored. The agent was just removing the sign that designated a separate elite line. When we arrived, there was one line for all guests. I had checked in online earlier in the day and was informed via chat that the room would not be ready until at least 4:00 PM. The crowd tends to skew a bit older, which is also nice if you’re looking to relax. The neighborhood has many other hotels but is so much quieter than South Beach proper. It took us five hours to get there and four hours to get home.Īs mentioned the hotel is located conveniently just a bit north of South Beach. We drove from Tampa as we wanted to have our car for the weekend. I loathe resort fees and this felt underhanded as Hyatt is clear that Globalists do not pay it on qualifying rates (which I booked). I had to argue with the front desk agent to get this waived as she told me first that Globalists don’t get it waived, then said she was told not to waive it, and then finally told me that she would waive it since I was so persistent. This should be waived for Globalists and all guests booking with points. The hotel charges a resort fee of $45 plus tax per day. A standard room costs between 17,000 and 23,000 points per night as Hyatt classifies this as a Category 5 property. If I wasn’t booking a Hyatt Privé rate, I could have redeemed points. I was hoping for an upgrade to a larger suite, but was informed the week before in an email that upgrades were not happening. This was annoying, but the hotel did not seem to be busy as every type of room and suite were open. The rate was over $200 cheaper per night for the same suite and we stayed three nights. I reached out to the agency, but unfortunately it was too late to change the reservation. I paid to book a suite directly and was surprised when I saw the rate drop two days before check-in. It’s up to the hotel to honor these and The Confidante did the least it could. With Hyatt Privé, I earn World of Hyatt points, credit for the nights, all of my Globalist benefits, as well as several additional benefits including all of those listed above (in theory). The guys who own this agency are great and very responsive. I booked a Hyatt Privé rate with Live Luxe Travel Co. ![]() ![]() ![]() If they don't like it, no skin off my bones. And at the end of the day, it's just that: an option. But if somebody is trying to save some bucks, or see what else is out there, I think I'm doing more good than harm by suggesting an option I stand behind. If somebody gets excited about a particular bike or brand, they're not likely to want to look too hard at other options. I just recommend DB often because I know their product line, have had good experience with their support, and my Release makes me ridiculously happy. I even like a fair number of big brand bikes, and absolutely recommend them used, or if you can find a good deal. I like a lot of offerings from the other direct order brands like YT and Canyon. I wouldn't say that they're the be-all-end-all bike manufacturer. The same has held true when shopping at a few different price ranges and styles. I did a ton of research before buying a bike, and I couldn't find anything else that fit the bill better. I wish they paid me! All joking aside, I bring them up a lot because for the money, they're legitimately hard to beat. Not to mention the Stache geometry is unlike anything else on the market, and everyone that rides mine immediately wants to buy it because it's the most fun hardtail they've ever ridden. I've put well over 1,000 miles on both my Staches and have never had a single issue. So unless you like replacing parts or fixing other people's mistakes, having wheels re-laced with new hubs or just plan on buying a quality wheelset for a DB bike, I'd take a used Stache over one any day of the week. This includes the fact that I received the wrong model or size bike for all four orders placed, plus the attitude I've received from their customer service reps (I tried calling one guy but he would never answer his phone, so I got a hold of someone else and he finally called me back lecturing me about only dealing with one person.maybe try answering your damn phone).the cable routing on all of their bikes is consistently a fucking disaster, derailleur hangers always arrived bent to shit, and the hubs they use on their bikes, aside from maybe the top of the line Release 5C, are absolute trash and have grenaded on three separate bikes I've either owned or friends owned. But the number of errors present in the few orders I've placed is unacceptable. Now, I know most people don't have issues with Diamondback bikes. " Every cyclist has something to teach and something to learn."Īfter owning two Staches (and still currently own a 2017 Stache 9.8) and owning/working on Diamondback bikes that I've purchased for myself or others through the corporate program, I will:Ģ) Probably never buy a Diamondback bike again. For these are the keys to understanding the vast differences from the conventional, non-standardised methods, that derive from the pioneering aviators of World War One, passed down without serious challenge or development, for over 100 years.Ĭonventionally drawn, a final approach elevation profile diagram, published in text books and manuals, then depicted on whiteboards and flight training software, will usually display just one sloping line to depict the approach path angle. The fully comprehensive and illuminative description of The Jacobson Flare is contained and presented in The Jacobson Flare App (see further details, below). ![]() It is not intended to to provide flight instruction advice to individual readers. The following material is descriptive, only, to provide a simple discussion to offer an initial understanding of the principles that underpin The Jacobson Flare. So far, so good, you say, but you are well entitled to ask: “ OK, but what’s so different from what I’ve just been taught?” … or … “Why would I need it? I’ve been landing airplanes for 20/30/40 years?” These are fair questions but, in a truly honest moment: Do you fully understand, can you explain, can you determine how and why you can perform a ‘greaser’ of a landing on most occasions and then a ‘howler’, the very next time? We can blame a gust or some inattention or distraction but are these reasons, or just excuses? The improvement in confidence, competence and progress of pilots – at all levels – is not only breathtaking: It’s consistent and it’s measurable.’ The flare is initiated from a visual fix, derived from the cockpit lower visual cut-off angle ( the lowest angle visible ‘over the nose’) and the flight path angle, offering a precise and visible model for both student and instructor. ‘Accounting for all – even self-compensating for many – of the variable parameters that have distracted the attention of pilots away from the 5 essential elements of all landings: Where to aim How to aim When to flare How much to flare and How fast to flare?, the Jacobson Flare explains landings as never before.įlown initially at a constant angle, the eye path translates to the classic exponential flare curve that generations of pilots have attempted to execute by judgment alone. Since the development of The Jacobson Flare from 1985, pilots are presented with a fully-defined visual eye path, determined by the airplane type – making the landing safe, sure, simple and universal. This framework confirms to the pilot exactly what is happening at every stage, dispelling the myths that ‘ trial and error‘, ‘ developing a mental picture‘ and ‘ feel‘ are the only ways to master the landing.ģ. ![]() The Jacobson Flare uses a visual, logical, geometric framework to guide the pilot from final approach to a perfect touchdown – in the right place.Ģ. ![]() Our home page describes The Jacobson Flare:ġ. , David Jacobson, simple-safe-logical-affordable 0 ![]() ![]() ![]() MySensors Micro – Stackable with Nordic nRF24L01+ Transceiver module.Bluetooth Module – HC-06 Serial Port Bluetooth Module.BLE 4.0 Module – HM-12 Dual-Mode BLE 4.0 Module.ESP-12F Wi-Fi Module – ESP8266 Serial Wi-Fi Transceiver Module.ESP-12E Wi-Fi Module – ESP8266 Serial Wi-Fi Transceiver Module.ESP-01 Wi-Fi Module – ESP8266 Serial Wi-Fi Transceiver Module.PSF-B Wi-Fi Module – 1-4 Gang Low Power ESP8285 Wi-Fi Module New.Airspy R2 – Wideband-receiver with excellent reception qualities.Airspy SpyVerter R2 – HF converter for expanded frequency coverage.Airspy Mini – Portable high performance scanner for VHF&UHF bands. ![]() Airspy HF+ Discovery – Most Refined HF/VHF SDR, world class performance.“eWeLink-Remote”Control – A more reliable 100M local control solution.eWeLink Energy Dashboard – Manage electricity usage on APP.Din Rail Terminal Blocks – Can be mounted on the DIN rail.Wire Connector – Universal Compact Wire Connector.RM433R2 – 8 Buttons RF Remote Controller.433MHz Remote – 4 Buttons RF Remote Controller.WTS01/DS18B20 – Waterproof Sensor for TH Series.RL560 (5M) – RJ9 Sensor Extension Cable.M5-80 Type Frame – 2/3/4 Gang M5-80 Type Switch Frame.NFC Tag – Tap to Trigger Smart Scene New.DC 5V/2A Adapter – Type A/B/E/F/G/I DC 5V/2A Adapter New.Enclosure Stand – Compatible with NSPanel/NSPanel Pro New.TX Ultimate Cover – Cartoon/Star Style Cover New.Zigbee Smart Curtain Motor – Make Ordinary Curtain Smart 5V/1A.Smart Wi-Fi LED Filament Bulb – Smart Wi-Fi LED Filament Bulb.L1 Light Strip 2M – 2M Waterproof RGB Strip Lights.L2 Light Strip 2M/5M – 2M/5M Waterproof Strip Lights.L2 Lite Light Strip – 5M US/EU RGB Strip Lights.Wi-Fi Smart LED Bulb – Adjustable Brightness/Color in Schedule/Scene.元 Strip Light 5M/16.4Ft – 5M RGB Strip Lights New.元 Pro 5M/16.4Ft – 5M RGBIC Strip Lights RGBIC.CAM Slim – 130° Wide Angle Lens Slim Camera New.SNZB-01 – Wireless Button Zigbee Switch.ZBDongle-P – Based on CC2652P USB Dongle Hot.ZBDongle-E – Based on EFR32MG21 USB Dongle New.S31/S31 Lite – Type B Energy Monitoring Smart Plug.S26R2 – WiFi Smart Plug Type B/E/F/G/H/N.S40/S40 Lite – 15A Electricity Statistics Plug.S40 Lite ZB – 15A Type A/B Zigbee Smart Plug New.IW101 – Type B Power Monitoring In-Wall Switch.T4EU1C – No Neutral Required Wall Switch.TX Series – 1-3 Gang WiFi Smart Wall Switch.M5 – 1-3 Gang WiFi Smart Wall Switches 80/86/120 Type.TX Ultimate – 1-3 Gang Smart Touch Wall Switch 86 Type New.NSPanel – US/EU Smart Scene Wall Switch.NSPanel Pro – Smart Home Control Panel New.CC2531 – CC2531 USB Zigbee Packet Sniffer.RE5V1C – 5V Inching/Selflock Relay Module.4CH/PROR3 – 4-Gang Wi-Fi Smart Switch 4 Gang.DUALR3/Lite – Two Way Power Metering Switch.iFan04 – 220V/110V Fan&Light Controller.POWR3 – 25A/5500W High Power Smart Switch 25A.SPM – 20A/Gang Stackable Power Meter 20A.S-MATE – Work with MINIR3/M5/S40/B05-BL.TH Elite – Temp & Humi Monitoring Switch 16A/20A.POW Elite – 16A/20A Power Meter Switch 16A/20A.TH Origin – TH10/16 Upgrade Version 16A/20A.ZBMINI Extreme – ZBMINIL2 Super Tiny Switch New.MINI Extreme – Ultra Small, Detach Relay Mode New. ![]() |
